Jeff Vanchiere Named Underwriting Manager, VP

October 28, 2024Jeff Vanchiere has been named Mountain West Small Business Finance – Underwriting Pool Manager. Effective immediately, Jeff will oversee all facets of the underwriting department, leading a team of seven direct reports: four underwriters and three loan specialists. In his new role, he’ll train, develop and partner with underwriters, credit analysts and loan specialists in preparing SBA loans as part of the approval process.

Jeff has been with Mountain West for 12 years. He began his career at MWSBF as a Community Advantage 7(a) Loan Officer. He later worked as a 504 Loan Origination Specialist and for the past eight years has been a Loan Officer, and Vice-President based in Mountain West’s St. George office. Jeff will maintain the Southern Utah market until his replacement has been solidified. There is currently an open posting for his role.

“During his time at Mountain West, Jeff has shown an almost supernatural talent for structuring SBA 504 loans,” said MWSBF Chief Operating Officer Danny Mangum. “His knowledge of 504 SOP (standard operating procedure) is unparalleled in the industry. He’s got a meticulous approach to credit and has the unique talent of not only understanding it but being able to help others understand it as well. It’s why, even in his position as a loan officer, his colleagues (e.g. loan specialists, underwriters and fellow loan officers) would often come to him for help.”

Previously, Loan officers were responsible for underwriting their own loans, which only adds to Vanchiere’s experience and expertise within his new role.

Mangum also spoke highly of Vanchiere, stating, “He’s stepping into the role with fresh ideas on how to streamline and improve the entire underwriting process. Perhaps even more impressive is his focus on the client and borrower. People enjoy collaborating on deals with Jeff—both inside and outside the company. He’s not just a natural fit; he’s the best fit for the job.”
