Published July 10, 2026. Mountain West Small Business Finance (MWSBF) is pleased to announce Alexander ‘Alex’ Barron as a new full-time Colorado AVP, Loan Officer. 

“We are excited to have Alex supporting our Colorado operation full-time”, said Judson Blakesley, MWSBF Senior Lending Officer. “Alex has been home-grown. He’s worked his way through our closing department. He understands customer relationships and has been working with our top-producing loan officers for the past year to see first-hand how they operate. He’s excited and ready to go out and take on Colorado.” 

Mountain West has been serving statewide in Colorado since 2022. Vice President, Loan Officer, Kimberly Holley moved to the centennial state in March of 2023 to expand operations and better support the Colorado market. Since then, Mountain West has done more than 124 projects totaling over $165MM in debentures and hired a full-time Colorado-based underwriter. 

Blakesley says the team’s vision for Alex is to build relationships and grow production, but he’ll also play a key role continuing to support Holley. Blakesley continued:  

“You really never see the same [SBA 504] loan twice in a four-year period, so continuing to have Alex get that exposure and seeing a lot of projects early on will not only help support Kimberly and the overall Colorado operation but provide some key real-time training.”  

While a Utah native, Alex is excited about the opportunities in Colorado, admitting the timing for the transfer is perfect for him professionally and something both he and his wife are excited about. Having already fallen in love with Colorado, they were ecstatic to find that the Mile High City shares their same passion for sports. 

“We’re big sports fans and immediately fell in love with the sports aspects and die-hard fans of the local teams,” Alex shared. Noting that it doesn’t matter how well the Rockies may be doing; the stadium still can sell out. “It’s really a culture we live for, so we’re super excited about the pro teams but also the college teams,” stating that they plan to watch both the University of Colorado Buffs and the Colorado State Rams play.  

When Mountain West had presented the idea for a growth opportunity in Colorado, Alex said he and his wife jumped on the opportunity, and both took transfers within their respective companies to make their own Rocky Mountain High a reality.   

“Alex is going to get along with everyone,” Blakesley said. “He’s easy to talk to. But he also has that drive, and he’s very reliable. He knows the [SBA 504] program, and he’s taken on the challenge of learning and being an expert on the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). And that’s what separates Mountain West from our competition in the market: we jump right in and handle loan collection. Our front-line people know the program, rather than just the sales pitch. Really, his only downside is that he likes Tottenham.”  

About Alex: 

Before joining MWSBF, Alex gained experience at Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU) as a Secondary Market Specialist and Real Estate Inspector, completed a Financial Analyst Internship with Melaleuca in Idaho Falls, and worked as an Accounting Clerk for Alianza, Inc. 

Outside the office: 

Besides discovering new places to dine with his wife, Alex enjoys pickleball, weightlifting, and hiking. He’s a bagpiper extraordinaire and yes, a dedicated Tottenham Hotspur fan, but MWSBF is hoping that with his time in Colorado, that passion may fade, or at minimum be replaced.
