Meet the Next Generation of Mountain West’s Leadership

The Next Generation of MWSBF's Leadership Team

Danny Mangum (Chief Operating Officer)

Danny has been employed with Mountain West Small Business Finance (MWSBF) since 2010. As a vice-president and loan officer, his key responsibilities included generating and underwriting loans for Northern Utah and Las Vegas. Prior to joining MWSBF Danny was a Loan Officer for Zions Bank in the National Real Estate Group originating and servicing loans nationwide.

Danny has a Masters in Organizational Behavior from Utah State University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Utah. In 2018, Danny served as the president for the Salt Lake City chapter of the Risk Management Association (RMA.) He is a board member for Discovery Gateway and a member of the Wasatch Family Foundation Fundraising Committee.

Danny Mangum

He is married with two children. He enjoys University of Utah athletics, snow skiing, basketball and water sports (though he’s not yet mastered synchronized swimming). And while he is excited about this new opportunity with Mountain West, he’s still hopeful that his work on the rec softball field will not impede, but ultimately lead him to  getting called up by the majors to fulfill his lifelong dream of playing professional baseball.

Spencer Davis (Vice President – Senior Lending Officer)

Spencer started working for Mountain West Small Business Finance (MWSBF) at the youthful age of 15.  His story with MWSBF is literality from the bottom up as his first job with the company was digitizing loan documents out of a repurposed storage closet.  Throughout his teenage and college years, Spencer worked out of both the Salt Lake and Orem offices.  After graduating from the University of Utah in 2004 with a degree in Behavioral Science and Health, Spencer accepted a job to become a Loan Officer in MWSBF’s St. George office.  Spencer worked out of the St. George office from 2005 until 2015.  Spencer loved working with the people of Southern Utah and its surrounding areas and made many friends while there.  While in St. George, Spencer became an avid runner and biker.  He participated three times in the St. George Marathon and once in the St. George half Ironman.  In 2015, Spencer had the opportunity to return home to Salt Lake as a Loan Officer in MWSBF’s Salt Lake office.

Spencer enjoys traveling and going to concerts with his wife, watching movies and playing sports with his four boys.  While not nationally ranked, Spencer plays racquetball. He also enjoys pickleball, golf, tennis and soccer, and is an avid supporter of Real Salt Lake and Liverpool. Spencer currently serves as a board member of the Salt Lake chapter of the Human Fund.  While Spencer sounds really active, unnamed sources say that most nights you’re more likely to find him stretched out on his recliner streaming Netflix.

Judd Blakesley (Vice President – Marketing Manager / Government Relations)

Judd has more than 15 years of lending experience. He earned a bachelor of arts in philosophy at Brigham Young University and then was recruited by Mountain West Small Business Finance in 2003. Judd has been a production officer since 2008. Prior to being named as vice president marketing and government relations, Judd served as a Loan Officer focusing on business development for SBA 504 Loans in Northern Utah and Western Wyoming. In 2012 he began working under the late Randy Horiuchi, expanding Judd’s role to marketing and government relations.

Judd Blakesley

Prior to joining MWSBF, Judd spent two years in San Diego working for CDC Small Business Finance, in the Microloan and Community Advantage loan department, and then in the processing, underwriting and closing of SBA 504 loans. Judd is a member of CCIM, RMA, NAIOP and NAACP. He is a nationally ranked racquetball player, an Eagle Scout, BYU Sloan Speech Award Winner and someday wants to build a cabin in the mountains with his family and future Rhodesian Ridgeback (dog). Judd’s family includes his wife Ashley, two children, and his dog Lady Badger.
