Spring is in the air, and for so many across the U.S. it means time to head out to the ball diamond. Be it fast or slow pitch, little league or some time spent at a professional baseball stadium, there is something about a ball game that helps signal the changes of the seasons and the ushering in of Spring.
The Loaners couldn’t agree more.
What’s that? You’re not familiar with the Loaners. I’m not going to say that they may be the greatest SBA504 slow-pitch softball team in the world. Frankly, I’m not really sure how many others are out there.
But I will say that MWSBF looks forward to “playing ball” each Spring like so many others. The game, part of the business development wing of Mountain West includes staff members and cohorts from like-minded banks and friends of the 504 program.
Now in their fourth year of competition, the Loaners (get it “Loaners.” Pretty cheeky, eh?) have already had to move up into a tougher division because of their past success. –always finishing top three in their division.
“Some would say that we’ve been lucky with the level of talent we get to recruit,” explained MWSBF Player-Manager Judd Blakesley (Business Development Officer for MWSBF.) “But I think all credit should go to our superior coaching,” he says with a laugh. “The truth is, we’ve got a great group of guys, and it’s something we look forward to each year. Judd said that the Loaners also head up to Kaysville each Fall to participate in fall ball with “our friends up North.”
For those interested in seeing the Loaners in action, they will take the field at 6:30 this Thursday Night (5/2). Already 2 – 0 on the season in the Cottonwood Skills Division, the Loaners are thirsty for a Championship (though, that could also be a lack of hydrating before games).
Either way, you can check out photos and updates of the team’s successes and ‘learning opportunities’ on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MWSBF?fref=ts
